Australian Blown Lites Championship

The Blown Lites class is a new blown circuit racing class designed to attract more competitors to blown circuit racing by restricting the class to make engines more reliable and the aim is to help competing in this class to be more affordable that competing in unlimited blown alcohol displacement BAD class.

The Engine Specifications

The specifications have been kept to a minimum. The idea is to develop a close and competitive championship that will give an equal opportunity and allow driver ability and boat set-up to achieve the end result … it is open to all that accept the conditions. The specifications outlined below will be overseen by the technical team and will be enforced by them or a representative from the team.

  • Block Up to a 380 cubic inch Iron Block V8 engine (Manufacturer open)
  • Blower GMC styled 6/71 (max. 1:1 drive) with no internal mechanical means of sealing (i.e. Teflon, Nylatron, Graphite etc.). Standard inlet/outlet – centrally mounted over engine – no screw or centrifugal styles – no turbos – no Hi-Helix rotors – belt type open
  • Hat Enderle 'Bug' Hat with maximum 3.690 inch x 3 butterflies and a maximum of 8 hat nozzles and 8 port nozzles - no electronic injection
  • Heads Single spark-plug heads - Iron or Alloy - Open valve train and open cam type and drive
  • Ignition To be left open – single unit only
  • Manifold Fabricated or cast – no intercoolers or hat spacers
  • Fuel Pump To be left open
  • Fuel Methanol only – no fuel additives
  • Exhaust All engine water through pipes or local regulations apply – no zoomies.
  • Oil Wet or dry sump systems
